Mount Hotham is Victoria’s premier snow resort. It holds the record for the largest snowfalls in the southern alpine regions and is the only Australian skiing destination that you can fly directly into. It is unique in as much as the accommodation at Mount Hotham is all at the top of the ski trails rather than at the bottom. This is because the Alpine highway here follows a ridge and the accommodation resorts are situated on both sides of this road.
Mount Hotham has a highest elevation of 1860 meters and the ski fields cover some 320 hectares of magnificent slopes, lined on either side by beautiful snow gums. It has 13 lifts and all the facilities that you would expect like excellent ski hire, ski patrol, and wonderful restaurants and cafes. The main access road is also sealed all the way to Mount Hotham.
Mount Hotham also has its own airport, only a short drive from the mountain, making it a sure destination with little hassle of getting to. There are plenty of restaurants and eateries, around 17 in the area to be exact. And of course, plenty of local produce and wines on offer to remind you of the beautiful area you are in. There are cross-country trails, snowboard terrains and half pipes, so you know there is something for everyone.
Accommodation at Mount Hotham is of course, some of the best Victorian ski resorts has to offer making sure it’s guests are comfortable whether it be warm summer nights or frosty winter days, Mount Hotham will surely offer a great place to rest your head. Visitors to the area can sit back and relax by a fireplace with a hot cuppa or join the skiers on the mountain for some down hill action. There is plenty to see and do at Mount Hotham. You may never want to leave.
